Butterflies and moths of the Vysočina Region

As a part of the Vysočina Region Biodiversity project, we process the occurrence and spread of rare, endangered and regionally important species of the butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) in the Vysočina Region. The required result is a list of all species of butterflies and moths in the Vysočina Region with a commentary to the species whose occurrence in the Czech Republic is unique or questionable, whose taxonomic state is still unclear and also to species whose occurrence in the Vysočina Region is unique. Part of the outcome will be, for the rare and endangered species, a commentary on their historical and current occurrence in the Vysočina Region together with maps of their current and historical occurrence. A list of lepideptorologically most important localities of the Vysočina Region will be made. The project will include complementation of the species overview and current spread by a complex field survey in chosen localities, complementation of the overview on the bases of published data, available collection data and other available non-published findings. The activity will be realised in cooperation with other experts. Two narrative scientific-popular publications will be issued about butterfies and moths in Střední Pojihlaví (around the middle of the river Jihlava) and in national nature monument Švařec as well as a popularising handout informing about the butterflies and moths of the Vysočina Region.

Within the framework of the project "Vysočina Region Biodiversity", the occurrence and spread of rare, endangered and regionally significant species of the butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) in the Vysočina Region was studied. In total, 2 219 species of butterflies and moths were found in the Vysočina Region, out of which 169 are protected or listed on the red list. Two narrative scientific-popular publications was issued about butterfies and moths in Střední Pojihlaví (around the middle of the river Jihlava) and in national nature monument Švařec as well as a popularising handout informing about the butterflies and moths of the Vysočina Region.
